The 1953 Buick Skylark is considered by most car enthusiasts as one of the most desirable classics ever made. Mint Condition Skylarks's sell for up to $80,000. 1953 was the 50th anniversary year for Buick, and their Skylark Convertible was their premiere vehicle. Only 1690 of these rare classics were produced, with less than 100 still remaining. This is also the first year of the V-8 overhead valve engine.
This Buick is in very good condition. The current owner purchased it in Stockton California 1963 when the vehicle had 58,000 miles on it. In the last 32 years he has driven it 11,000 miles. Currently the car has 69,000 original miles. This car was originally gun metal gray and in 1968 it was painted silver. Although the paint is 30 years old it still shines and looks very nice. Aprox 4 years ago the owner replaced the seat panels with the correct leather. At the same time he placed a new tan top on the car which currently looks brand new.
This has not been restored. It has been maintained in very good original condition for the last 37 years. It would not take much to take this car even more valuable. Currently I would consider this car a solid #3. There is no rust and the car drives great. I have set a reserve to average NADA value which should make this car an excellent buy.
