    I guess gas mileage isn't everything. Manufacturers of sports utility vehicles have not slowed down production of these mid and large size gas guzzlers for 2006. Hummer is offering a new mid-size called the H3. Jeep introduces the new Commander with three row seating. Pontiac is introducing the brand new Torrent, while Mercury has modified its popular Mountaineer. Modifications and improvements have also been made to popular Suv models including Mercedes Benz M class, Land Rovers, Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, GMC Denali, Chevy Tahoe and the ever popular Chevy Suburban.

2006 Chevy Suburban
The Chevy Suburban introduces the new LTZ model. Features include a new 6.0-liter V-8 with all-wheel drive and a Z55 suspension. This large SUV has 130" wheelbase and comes in half-ton and three-quarter-ton sizes.
2006 Ford Explorer
Ford redesigns key elements of the Explorer with an optional V-8 engine to boost power and a new 6-speed transmission. Additional improvements include a stiffer frame redesigned steering and brakes and a new rear suspension.

Mercury re-designs its very popular Mountaineer SUV. Improvements include a new exterior and a optional 292-horsepower V-8 with six-speed-automatic transmission.
2006 Pontiac Torrent
Pontiac introduces a new SUV to its popular lineup of Sports Utility Vehicles. The Torrent is available with front- or all-wheel drive and features a 3.4-liter V-6 engine.
2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca
This is the first SUV by Subaru that can hold up to seven passengers. New features include a 250-horsepower horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine and all wheel drive.
2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Joining the company's newly redesigned hybrid Prius hatchback, the Highlander Hybrid sport utility vehicle promises to be as fuel efficient as a four-cylinder-powered compact sedan just like the Lexus.
